This is a quart (4 cups) of traditional red sangria, made with organic red wine and fruit, sugar, Spanish Brandy, and LOVE. It will be ice cold and ready for you with cups and soda for topping on the Bogue Chitto river June 14th.

A recipe found on a clay jar from ancient Mesopotamia describes mixing wine with honey, herbs, and fruit. Why? WHY NOT! But actually it’s because for thousands of years drinking water without alcohol was a guaranteed way to get KILLED or worse, infected with a stomach bug leaving you begging for death’s sweet release. The result was a third, even more disastrous result: watery wine. A nasty problem with a legendary solution: the one about to be in your cup!

The people living in what we now call Spain perfected the recipe for how-to-fix-gross-watery-wine in the 18th century and called it Sangria, after the Spanish word for blood because Catholics love to make everything about blood. Americans were introduced to this delicious red beverage in 1964, at the World’s Fair in New York City, and have been obsessed with it ever since.
